Student Assistance Program

About the Program:

The Your Choice Student Assistance Program works with students in the school, providing drug and alcohol education to at-risk students and students making high-risk choices. This program utilizes PRIME for Life curriculum which is an evidence-based motivational prevention, intervention and pre-treatment program specifically designed for people making high risk choices

The Classes:

This class is for students who are caught in school with vaping devices or other substances and can be offered in lieu of a ticket or suspension. This class:

  • Focuses on specific beliefs and attitudes common among substance users including vape and marijuana users

  • Addresses thorny issues, such as “Is marijuana and vaping addictive?” and “How can marijuana impairment trick us?”

  • Illustrates a cannabis-specific progression to a trigger point for THC addiction as well trigger points for other substances

  • Uses the latest science and new THC-focused videos to illustrate real-world examples of marijuana’s effects

  • Discusses risks of other substances such as alcohol, tobacco, prescription medication, and others

A mental health specialist will join one of the sessions to discuss common mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and stress as well as healthy coping methods.
